Looking Good For The Summer

Looking fabulous for the summer months is a bit trickier than looking great during the rest of the year. Winter months find most people covered up. Not much concern is centered on the body when little of it is exposed, particularly in colder parts of the country.

For women, it’s all about looking great in a swimsuit. For most women that’s the hardest task to pull off. Keeping that in mind, take into consideration the many other ways you can look great during the summer months. When it starts warming up, consider some of the following:

Hair and Skin

Summer weather can play havoc with your hair and skin. Treat yourself to higher end shampoos, conditioners and moisturizers during dry weather, especially if you swim in chlorinated pools. You may find that year-round use of better products is worth the expense. Consider one of those cute short perky hair-dos, if you have the face structure and hair texture to make it work for you. Start out with nice clear skin before you sample new moisturizers.

If you’re prone to skin break-outs, try visiting acnetreatments.com for some viable solutions. Less is more where make-up is concerned. Try a fresher and more radiant look for the summer. Add a little shine to your face. After moisturizing, add some colored lip gloss and a dab of mascara and you’re good to go.

Get a Tan

There is a lot of hype about the dangers of too much sun, and caution should be used while tanning. However, there is no reason not to pursue a moderate amount of sunshine. Ten to fifteen minutes a day is all you need for a healthy tan. As an added benefit, this moderate amount of sun exposure provides you with the required daily amount of Vitamin D.

Use sunscreen with UVA/UVB protection and a minimum of SPF 15. If you are very fair-skinned, more protection may be required. To be on the safe side, you may want to try some of the tanning lotions which require no sun exposure. Tanning products on the market these days are really good and provide natural color.

Lose Weight

Easier said than done, right? However, if you do nothing else, power walking is sufficient. It’s an all around great exercise and very effective. Add a little strength training to tighten up your muscles, and that’s your work-out program.

Manicures/Pedicures

Nothing makes a woman feel more feminine than having prettily done nails. Light colors work best in summer.

What to Wear

Get expert advice when purchasing a swimsuit. It’s the one item in your wardrobe where there is no room for error. Buy a couple of great cover-ups that go from day into evening. The right sun dress will hide a multitude of problem body spots. Buy lots of them and match them up with cute colorful sandals.

Even if these suggestions don’t make you look like a super model, going through the motions will make you feel good about yourself. You can now welcome the summer with open arms!
