Lilpink Travels: Breathtaking White Sandbar of Panampangan Island, Tawi-Tawi

You will learn how to get to Panampangan Island, what it looks like and some crazy moments we captured on this paradise in this post.

Lately, I have been searching my blogger self. I srsly don't know what to post in here anymore. When you have five blogs and one online magazine to manage, I guess you'd find yourself in a blogging meltdown too. Haha.

I don't and won't ever regret having too many blogs though. Coz if I had like only one blog, I will be flooding it with gazillion of posts during my opposite-to-lazy days. There are a lot of times that I can write the whole day until I have posted on all my blogs. And there are times that I don't have any posts at all. Haha. Talk about blogging catastrophe.

Anyway, I will be sharing with you a travel post today which I will be calling Lilpink Travels since I use this hashtag on my social media (#lilpinktravels). (The Province of Tawi-Tawi should be proud of me. Lol!)

Today, let's take a pumped boat (which we commissioned) from the Municipality of Bongao to Municipality of Sapa-Sapa where the breath-taking and untouched Panampangan Island is located.

Panampangan Island is known for its long sandbar, powdery white sand and crystal clear water. It is a paradise for the beach bums. If you are looking for a silent getaway from the world with a touch of an adventure, Panampangan Island is the right one for you.
The island is so virgin that only one stilt house, where a Badjao family resides, is in there. We also caught a boat house (yep, their house is the boat) owned by another Badjao family during our visit to the island. Oh, they are so lucky to be living in that island. Also, we managed to see a cat on the island. Yep, he is there alone. Up to this day, I wonder if it was really a cat that we saw. lol I bet he is loving the free fishes on the island.

Ready?

Getting to Panampangan Island from Municipality of Bongao

Going to the island takes a lot of effort and money. One is to commission a boat to take you there since there aren't commercial ones that are bound to the island. Rates may differ among boats. You have to consider that you are going to buy the oil/gasoline to be used for the entire return trip because you can't sleep on the island. :) A good trip to the island requires that you go earlier in the morning and return to Bongao before dusk, so that you can enjoy the calmness of Panampangan.

Another thing to remember is to be with a number of people. Do not go alone. Since the island is two hours from Bongao, you need to be extra careful of pirates.

Of course, don't forget to bring food since there aren't any restaurants in the island. However, if you prefer to fish, then it would be just fine.

Also, don't forget your sunblock lotion, moisturizer, sunnies and whatever you use on your skin. It is really hot on the island, tho you can always get a shade from the trees there.

Lastly, be cautious of the sea urchins. There are really quite a number of them on the sea bed there. But I know, you'd fall in love with starfishes and many species of fishes. You can see a lot of them in the island, as well.

(Of course, I don't have to remind you of your camera, selfie stick, etc. You will get a lot of good photos there. Really! Not to mention the adventure of your lifetime.)

Onto the photos in my camera:

And oh, if ever you visit Panampangan Island, look for the tree with my name on it as shown below. :D Maybe you can carve yours next to mine. hihi
Have you fallen in love with the island after reading my post and hovering the photos? Well, you should definitely pay a visit. ^_^

Here's a tip: to easily get to the island, talk to the tourism officers in the airport when you arrived at Bongao. They will be happy to accommodate you.

This is all for now.

Toodles,

K

  11. Well this looks like something I'd love to go too. Probably not by myself since Tawi-Tawi does sound a little intimidating to me. Solo travel probably isn't a good idea there.

  17. The two hours on the boat is quite discouraging because it is a long dangerous trip. You even warn of pirates! You were very brave to do this. You earn your bragging rights for actually being on that island.
