On Internship Matters
I have always wanted to spend my internship outside Iligan City. The reasons for that, I have to keep to myself. Then again, it's kinda hard to do so especially that I am a Muslim and I wear the hijab. While most of the people think that Philippines is a democratic country, often, I think it isn't.
While I was talking to a friend in Facebook, he pointed out that I may have difficulty in the application for internship due to the fact that I am wearing the headscarf. Albeit the performance I am willing to give, let's get real. Most of the companies would prefer a non-Muslim to work for them. It's not because he is better than me. It's because he cannot be a deviance to the majority.
I know. I should not think like this. I know I am capable. It's just that. I don't know. Don't get me wrong. I will not remove my headscarf for just a reason of getting an internship. My life in the hereafter is much more precious. I would never learn when something I believe in is taken away from me.

If you happen to know of a good company or if you are a company who is willing to take a Muslim accountancy student as an intern, I would gladly send my application letter to your company. It would be a pleasure.
At the end of the day, I hope and I pray that I will be able to make it. I will be able to have an internship in a company that I like most. I will be able to give my best shot. I will gladly work for every bit of learning I could grasp from the workplace. And I would not sacrifice what I am and what I believe in. InshaAllah. To the Almighty be all the glory.
I totally agree with you sis. You don't have to change yourself and your beliefs for such thing. I hope you can find one, best of luck! :)

Good luck on your intern and always believe in yourself. I know you can do it sweetie <3
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, work with a company that you like so that you can always do your best!
muaahhh
I wish you the best with your search for a company. I know how it feels, thinking that this country isn't exactly democratic. I've been there. I'm still there. Over here people frown very much upon any sort of deviancy from the norm. You get stared at if you don't "fit in". It's just the sad truth--people don't know how to mind their own business....

Best of luck to you... i'm pretty sure a lot of companies will consider a person based on their talents and performance rather than the physical and outward look. :)
