My Dream Overseas Travel Destinations
I want to travel the world, for sure. And there are special places that I dream of visiting and exploring someday. I always get the question 'why?' when I tell people that I would love to visit some of these places badly. Others even tell me that there are far better destinations. But, we always don't have to go with the preference of majority, right?
Saudi Arabia - This is not questionable at all. I want to visit the first two holiest sites of Islam: Masjid Haram in Makkah and Masjid Nabawi in Madina. As a Muslim, I dream of fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam: pilgrimage or hajj. Of course, umrah would be nice, too. Ma sha Allah. If there is a blessing that I can perform both this year, I would be in my happiest state.
Masjid Al-Aqsa - As one of the holiest sites in Islam, who would not dream of setting foot in this masjid? This masjid is located in Jerusalem and was opened in 705 AD. Ma sha Allah. In addition to Masjid Al-Aqsa, I also want to visit Dome of the Rock or Qubbat as-Sakhrah, where Prophet Muhammad, accompanied by Jibril, ascended to heaven.
Morocco - I have been fascinated by Morocco ever since I learned that the Spaniards named the Muslim in Mindanao and Sulu, Moros, because we are similar to those residing in Morocco. I want to see every place in Morocco, to be honest. There is no other country in the world that has fascinated me other than this one. I don't know why.
Martapura, Indonesia - My ancestors came from this area. Although there is another family theory that our ancestors that resided in Martapura may actually came from Sulu originally, I am still interested in seeing and exploring Martapura one day. In sha Allah.
Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagasaki, Sapporo - These places have one thing in common - they are in Japan. If there is a second country that I am fascinated with, it is definitely Japan. Alhamdulillah, I was able to visit the country (Hiroshima Prefecture) early 2015. Of course, I want to go back and see more of it.
The Silk Road - This is not particularly a country. It is the ancient trade route coined by Ferdinand von Richthofen, an eminent German geographer. The road starts from China and ends in Europe. I saw this Japanese documentary of The Silk Road long long ago and I haven't turned back since. I don't know if the trains used in traveling by the crew of that documentary is still existing today though. I hope they are. Ma sha Allah, it will be an awesome trip.
Andes - Aren't you intrigued by the Tropical Andes, the Dry Andes, and the Wet Andes? Because I definitely am! I am particularly intrigued by the climate of the Andes in Chile: Dry Andes and Wet Andes. Ma sha Allah. It will be such an amazing sight and experience!
Petra and Pyramids of Egypt - I may already sound like your typical history and geography addict classmate, which I may be am. I think to be able to witness the perseverance and hard work of the olden people will add immensely to my attitude towards life as a person. Moreover, these are symbols of man's vast knowledge, expertise and ambitions.
Gambia and Sudan - to meet my friends and experience what it is like in Africa.
Ankor Wat - This is just around the corner from my country. In sha Allah, I will be able to go there sooner.
Turkey - Simply because I want to see and explore how the western and eastern lifestyle was able to mold what is the Turkey that we know right now.
Finally, Iceland - To see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and the glaciers are my missions when given the blessing of visiting Iceland. It will be the most spectacular sight. I can already imagine it now.
These are the places that I am most fascinated with right now. After a month or a year, the list can change. Nonetheless, I am positive that I will be able to make my dreams come true. Sooner or later. :)
Salam!
