Wood watches by Jord

Flashback to two months ago when Paul of Jord Watches contacted me at my email, I thought, "ASDFGHJKL!!! Watches made of wood? Are you serious?"

Even after I chose my watch for them to send, I had been stalking the website and ogling at the other items they have there. How can they make such masterpieces? I mean, look at the watches. They are so timely and fashionable. Like, can I have all of them? T_T

As stated in their website, Jord was derived from our desire for a timepiece that modeled our modern lifestyle. Sustainable, efficient, simple, and influenced by experiential living. Jord owners don't just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go. We believe our watches tell more than time.

The watches are obviously made from wood. In fact, it is the main material. With my Sully watch in Cherry and Maple, I can see how the design is put together to create such an intricate style. I love the watch for the fact that the idea is fresh, original and very innovative. When I wear it, I begin to think of ideas that I never thought would cross my mind. Like seriously! Maybe, it is because the watch itself is a manifestation of a mixture of careful study and creativity.

"Our Sully series marries complimentary and contrasting woods giving a vivid and varied tonal effect that can only be achieved when constructing a wood timepiece. The large face numbers and cut out bezel add playfulness to an otherwise classically styled timepiece.
  • Deployment Buckle with Push Button
  • Stratch Resistant Mineral
  • Citizen Miyota Quartz Movement (2035)
  • Case Width: 49mm
  • Case Thickness: 12mm
  • Lug Ends: 56mm
  • Band Length: 214mm
  • Band Thickness: 25mm
Each JORD watch is designed to be splash proof but is not intended for complete submergence in water. Also note that due to the nature of the wood chosen for each unique timepiece, colors and grain pattern may vary from photos."

Jsyk, after receiving the watch, I immediately wore it. I can tell that people are so eager to look at it. Perhaps, it is due to its freshness in the eye.

Just look at the rear of the watch. You can really tell that this is a quality watch that would withstand time. I especially love the lock also.

Lovely carving at the back of the watch. And yes, it is a 100% natural wood!

I cannot wait to bring this watch anywhere in the world I'd go.

Too curious about my watch? You can have yours, too! Purchase at http://www.woodwatches.com/shop

Let's matchy match!

Toodles,

K

  7. That looks classy. Who knew wood would be so elegant as opposed to rustic?

  8. I like watches - I have a few (and dream of a few others!) - but I admit I was not familiar with the wooden ones from Jord. That's a nice idea - I'd look for some in a shop next time to have a chance to see them up-close.

  12. the watch looks so unique and beautiful! but I'm a fan of ceramic watches for the heaviness of it on my wrist. I'm guessing these wood watches will be pretty lightweight?

  13. I think the wood design looks really elegant. I'm sure since wood is lighter than metal, it's also lightweight.

  14. Omg, they are beautiful! But my only concern is how waterproof and sweat proof they are. Don't want my watch to be stinking after months of wearing them!

  16. I did see this before from another blog and as I've said it there... this looks like a very nice watch to have especially here in our country where jewelry snatching is very common. Usually, snatchers would often go for gold/silver watches. Having a cool wooden one would be stylish and safe to use in crowded areas at the same time.
