Japan Diaries: The Citrus Capital of Japan - Setoda, Onomichi City

Assalamualaikum.

I know many of my friends are waiting for me to post my Japan trip. However, as I said over and over, I have been so lazy to blog. #badblogger To make it up to all of you, here are some of the photos from the recently concluded Japan training we had.

The training is about public administration and how Japan has implemented the theories of public administration. Truly, it was one of the most rewarding trips I ever had.

For this on-site training, we were able to see first hand how Japanese farmers and the JA or Japan Agricultural Cooperative work hand in hand. We went uphill to see how irrigation is done in Setoda Island. Though the weather is literally freezing at below 0 degrees celsius, the learnings we had was the most important part.

We were also privileged to be able to go to the sorting factory which was uber high-tech. Apart from that, we were also brought to the JA supermarket in Onomichi City which serves as the *bagsakan* for the indipendent farmers.

The quality of life of farmers in Japan is far better than what I see in the Philippines. What I learned from Setoda Island is that the government is ready to lend a hand to the local farmers - to help them uplift their livelihood. And that the quality of every product is the most important feature of being in business.

Let the photos explain everything I have said.

Toodles,

K

  1. Assalamualaikum.

Japan is indeed the target destination this year. Although it was a training, I'm quite surprised you were still able to squeezed in trips. I hope this year I get to go to Japan! <3
